Slow Cooker Ranch Style Beans
There are Ranch Style Beans and then there are Hidden Valley® Ranch Style Beans. This slow cooker recipe takes its time to develop the flavor harmony of bacon, onions, beans, chili powder and HVR Seasoning to make them just right on a cold winter’s day or parked next to your favorite picnic delicacy on a lazy summer afternoon.
Ingredients (6)
-
dried pinto beans 1 pound
-
bacon, chopped ½ pound
-
tomato paste ¼ cup
-
onion, diced ½
-
chili powder 1 tablespoon
Steps (3)
-
1
Place the beans in the pot of a slow cooker. Add the bacon, tomato paste and onions.
-
2
Pour 6 cups water over the top. Cover the pot and cook for 8 hours on low heat or 5–6 hours on high.
-
3
Two hours before you are finished, stir in the ranch seasoning and chili powder. Serve hot.
Note: For a vegetarian version, leave out the bacon.
-
-
1Place the beans in the inner pot of your multi-cooker. Add the bacon, tomato paste and onions. Pour 5 cups of water over the top.
-
2Turn on the multi-cooker and secure the lid, setting pressure valve to “sealing.” Select “manual” or “pressure cook” and cook on high-pressure for 30 minutes. Select “cancel” to turn off the machine.
-
3Allow the pressure valve to natural pressure release for at least 15 minutes, then quick-release the pressure by turning the seal to “venting.” Remove the lid, then stir in the ranch seasoning and chili powder.
-
4Check for doneness. Serve warm if finished. If necessary, pressure cook another 5 minutes by following the steps above.
* Always follow manufacturer’s instructions.
